  28. Welcome to the Programmers Heaven CD-Rom!

  30. This is the first version of the Programmer's Heaven CD-Rom from Synchron Data.
  31. This CD-Rom is filled with over 8500 files that are useful for today's 
  32. software and hardware developers.

  34. This CD-Rom are produced and published by Synchron and it is marketed 
  35. and distributed by both Synchron Data and Infomagic.

  51. How to install the X-Viewer Windows file browser:
  52. =================================================
  53.  
  54. The X-Viewer is an integrated browser for Windows that lets you view,
  55. copy and search all the files on the CD-Rom.
  56.  
  57. To install the X-Viewer you just have to run the SETUP.EXE program located 
  58. in the root directory on the CD-Rom and then follow the instructions. 
  59. The "SETUP.EXE" software will copy the software to your harddisk and create
  60. program icons for it.
  61.  
  62. If you want to run the software directly from the CD-Rom instead of installing
  63. it on your harddisk, you can start the "XVIEWER.EXE" program located in 
  64. the \EXEC directory.
  65.  
  66. Please check the on-line HELP for more help on how to use the software.

  68. When you have installed the Windows browser, you can access all the files 
  69. on the Programmers Heaven CD-ROM. Just click on the "Programmers Heaven Viewer"
  70. Icon to start the program.

  75. How to install the Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows 95

  78. To install Internet Explorer for Windows 95:
  79. 1. Click the Start menu
  80. 2. Click Run
  81. 3. Type d:\cdtools\ie_95\msie30m.exe
  82. (This assumes that your CD-ROM drive is drive D:. If your CD-ROM drive
  83. uses a different drive letter, type that letter instead.)

  86. How to install the Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows NT

  89. To install Internet Explorer for Windows NT:
  90. 1. Open the File Manager
  91. 2. From the File menu, click Run
  92. 3. Type d:\cdtools\ie_nt\msie30.exe
  93. (This assumes that your CD-ROM drive is drive D:. If your CD-ROM drive
  94. uses a different drive letter, type that letter instead.)

  97. How to install the Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows 3.1/3.11

  100. To install Internet Explorer for Windows 3.1 or 3.11:
  101. 1. Open the File Manager

  110. INSTALLING WINZIP ARCHIVE MANAGER
  111. =================================

  113. The shareware programs on this CD are compressed to save space. They
  114. are stored as either self-extracting EXE files, or in ZIP archive format.
  115. We have provided the latest 32-bit version of WinZip for Windows 95 and
  116. Windows NT, a popular archive management tool. We recommend installing
  117. WinZip before accessing any files on this CD.

  119. To install WinZip under Windows 95:
  120. 1. Click the Start menu
  121. 2. Click Run
  122. 3. Type d:\cdtools\winzip95.exe
  123. (This assumes that your CD-ROM drive is drive D:. If your CD-ROM drive
  124. uses a different drive letter, type that letter instead.)

  126. To install WinZip under Windows NT:
  127. 1. Open the File Manager
  128. 2. From the File menu, click Run

  137. (This assumes that your CD-ROM drive is drive D:. If your CD-ROM drive
  138. uses a different drive letter, type that letter instead.)

  140. The WinZip install program will configure WinZip and automatically
  141. associate WinZip with archive files (such as ZIP files).

  145. ACCESSING THE FILES USING A WWW BROWSER
  146. =======================================

  148. If you have installed the he Microsoft Internet Explorer and WinZip, you 
  149. can now access all the files on the Programmers Heaven CD-ROM.

  152. To access the files via the Internet Explorer:
  153.  
  154. 1. Start Internet Explorer
  155. 2. Click the File menu
  156. 2. Click on Open
  157. 3. Type d:\main.htm
  158.  
  159. (This assumes that your CD-ROM drive is drive D:. If your CD-ROM drive
  160. uses a different drive letter, type that letter instead.)

  163. The main menu for the Programmers Heaven CD-Rom will then appear in your 
  164. Web browser's window. Use your mouse to access the desired sections 
  165. of the CD.
  166.  
  167. If the file you selected is stored in ZIP format, Internet Explorer will
  168. automatically send the file to WinZip, where you can extract its contents
  169. to the directory of your choice (view the WinZip Help file for more
  170. information on managing ZIP files).
